Description
Summary:Recyclable Rare Earth Element Biosorbents In article number 2109158, Inchan Kwon and co‐workers develop a protein adsorbent that achieves the rapid, selective, and scalable extraction and recovery of rare earth elements (REEs). Elastin‐like polypeptide and the REE‐binding domain are fused to form the REE‐sensitive and thermo‐responsive protein adsorbent. The protein adsorbent recovers REEs from the mixture with non‐REEs during at least six repeated cycles. Moreover, the protein adsorbent recovers the majority of REEs from steel slag leachate, a potential industrial source of REEs.
