Summary:Problems related to hunger and malnutrition still haunt Indonesia. It is evident from BPS, which states that one in 10,000 Indonesians has malnutrition, and the Indonesian Hunger Index is in the 70th position out of 107 countries. This problem is very contrary to the habits of the Indonesian people who like to throw away food, as evidenced by Indonesia’s position, which is ranked second as the country with the highest food waste producer in the world. This happened because Indonesia’s lack of public awareness related to food waste and food waste management is not integrated yet. In contrast, poorly managed food waste will affect vital human beings, such as the environment, economy, and society. The results show that food waste management in Indonesia is still considered far behind compared to other countries, such as the United States, South Korea, Singapore, and Germany. This study uses a qualitative approach through a literature review related to food waste management in Indonesia and how it is practised in various countries. This study can be a recommendation for the government to improve the quality of food waste management in Indonesia and modify the implementation of food waste management in various countries.
