Summary: | Safety culture is a critical component of workplace health and safety in the electronics manufacturing industry, where operators face significant risks to their well-being and productivity due to the lack of a conducive safety culture. This study aimed to measure the level of safety culture among 255 randomly selected operators using a translated and validated Safety Attitude Questionnaire (SAQ), which assesses six dimensions: teamwork climate, safety climate, job satisfaction, stress recognition, perceptions of management, and working conditions. The data were analyzed using the Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS), with Pearson correlation used to examine the correlations between domains. Results showed that job satisfaction had the highest safety culture score (70.96), while stress recognition had the lowest score (56.87). Job satisfaction also had the highest number of positive responses (58.8%), the lowest score was management perception (15.3%). Furthermore, all safety culture domains were significantly associated with each other except for stress recognition. While the results indicate the presence of safety culture among the female operators in the electronics manufacturing industry in Malaysia, the overall scores suggest that the level of safety culture is not sufficient, highlighting the need for promotional and intervention activities to increase safety culture and reduce workplace accidents. |
