Summary: | In this paper, we describe the electrolysis method for producing nickel hydroxide Ni(OH)2 nanoparticles using NaOH and sodium citrate (0.3 M). Therefore, the synthesis method determining the size and shape of nickel hydroxide nanoparticles obtained. The results obtained were characterized by X-ray Diffraction (XRD), Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR), and Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM). From the Thermal Gravimetry Analysis, the first peak shows that the water is removed at a temperature of 100°C, a weight loss of 11.36%. The second peak decreases due to hydrated water loss from nickel hydroxide nanoparticles between 145°C and 179 °C with a small weight loss of 3.03%. The electrolysis method was used to successfully prepare hexagonal Ni(OH)2 nanoparticles with high purity using a NaOH concentration of 0.3 M at a voltage of 55 volts, and the peaks in the sample were similar to peak Ni(OH)2 International Centre for Diffraction Data (ICCD) card number 177, and the results of SEM obtained nanoparticles with a size of 1 µm. |
