Isobaric vapor-liquid equilibrium for binary system of tert-butanol + n-pentanol at 101.325 kPa: Measurement and correlation

The measurement of vapor-liquid equilibrium (VLE) for the mixture of components contained in fusel oil is important in the development of bioethanol industry. In this work, isobaric VLE data of tert-butanol + n-pentanol mixtures were studied at pressure of 101.325 kPa. The VLE measurement was determ...

Description
Summary:The measurement of vapor-liquid equilibrium (VLE) for the mixture of components contained in fusel oil is important in the development of bioethanol industry. In this work, isobaric VLE data of tert-butanol + n-pentanol mixtures were studied at pressure of 101.325 kPa. The VLE measurement was determined by using the modified Othmer-type ebulliometer. In the VLE of tert-butanol + n-pentanol mixtures, this mixture followed the ideal Raoult’s law behavior and no azeotropic behavior was observed. The experimental VLE data were well correlated with the Wilson, non-random two-liquid (NRTL) and universal quasi-chemical (UNIQUAC) activity coefficient models and the corresponding binary interaction parameters were calculated.
