Description
Summary:Three novel compounds, based on the 1,3,5-benzene core with C^sub 3^-symmetry, have been prepared and characterized by elemental analysis, i.r. and ^sup 1^H-n.m.r. Thermodynamic properties of the ligands and their Co^sup II^, Ni^sup II^, Cu^sup II^, and Zn^sup II^ metal complexes have been investigated and the corresponding stability constants obtained at 25.0 ± 0.1 °C and with I = 0.1 mol dm^sup -3^ in KNO^sub 3^ by potentiometric titration. A linear free energy relationship exists between the stability constants of complexes and the protonation constants of ligands in the ternary system of the Cu^sup II^-5-substituted phenanthroline-tripod ligand complexes.[PUBLICATION ABSTRACT]
