Description
Summary:► Solubilities of decanedioic acid in 3 binary mixtures were determined. ► Relation of synergistic effect with azeotropic mixture of solvents was discussed. ► The Wilson model, and the NRTL model are applied to describe measured systems. The solubilities of decanedioic acid in binary solvent mixtures consisting of ethanol + cyclohexane, ethanol + n-heptane, and ethylene glycol + water were determined by a dynamic method over the temperature range of 291–352 K. The solubility in mixed solvents was slightly greater than both of the pure components (the synergistic effect) at some compositions in the systems of decanedioic acid + ethanol + cyclohexane or n-heptane. The measured solid–liquid equilibrium (SLE) data were correlated with the Wilson model and the non-random two liquid (NRTL) model. Furthermore, the relation between the synergistic effect and the azeotropy character of the mixtures of solvents was discussed.
