Primary structure of the chloroplast small subunit ribosomal RNA gene from Chlorella vulgaris
The 1494 bp chloroplast small subunit ribosomal RNA gene of Chlorella vulgaris (type strain 211-11b) was amplified by the polymerase chain reaction technique, cloned as BamHI/PstI fragments into M13 phage mp18 and mp19, and sequenced as previously described using oligonucleotide primers complementar...

Summary: | The 1494 bp chloroplast small subunit ribosomal RNA gene of Chlorella vulgaris (type strain 211-11b) was amplified by the polymerase chain reaction technique, cloned as BamHI/PstI fragments into M13 phage mp18 and mp19, and sequenced as previously described using oligonucleotide primers complementary to conserved regions in small subunit rRNA coding regions of oxygenic phototrophic prokaryotes. The sequence is 86 nucleotides shorter than that of the C. ellipsoidea chloroplast. Sequence similarity between the chloroplast small subunit rRNA genes of the two Chlorella species is 88%. |
