Summary:An efficient Ru( ii )-catalyzed intermolecular amidation of weakly coordinating ketones with sulfonyl azides via CH bond activation is described. The reaction proceeds with high functional group tolerance, providing a novel approach to practical ketone-directed intermolecular CN bond formation in the absence of an additional oxidant.
