Summary: | Multidrug-resistant tuberculosis (MDR-TB) has become a significant barrier to managing active TB; rather than being less efficient, it is also associated with more side effects, more expensive to treat than standard first-line treatment. This literature review systematically reviews the factors associated with the success of MDR-TB treatment in high-burden countries. Also, to answer how the influence of factors related to treatment success decreases in cases of MDR-TB in high-burden countries. This study uses a literature study method using an online database to search various research data sources with the same topic. From the initial collection of 581 articles, twelve articles were obtained after filtering and considering their feasibility for the final systematic review. The twelve articles were derived from research conducted in countries with heavy burdens such as South Africa, India, Indonesia, Russia, and Uzbekistan. The review shows that the success rate of MDR-TB cases in high-burden countries is still low. Factors that influence the success of MDR-TB treatment are patient characteristics, the diagnostic test used, health system performance, HIV negative, treatment status (identifying the year of diagnosis of MDR-TB, drug use. second line, the regularity of treatment, length of treatment, lack of recorded treatment status). |
