Summary:The proposed work studies a prey – predator model with Beddington DeAngelis Functional Response on a prey and predator species under predator-catching effects. A non-linear mathematical model is proposed and the model assumptions and parameters are based on the factors influencing the density of a species population, whether prey or predator. The parameters considered in the mathematical model formulated include prey carrying capacity, predator catching rate, availability of resources, effort, handling time, saturation, and the impact of mutual interference of individuals over a single prey. The proposed model differs from the previous works available in the same field in the aspect that it considers the additional effect of predator catching on the prey-predator dynamics. The model is analysed and the conditions for existence and stability of the prey-predator model have been derived. These conditions aid in determining the model’s persistence and extinction. The numerical analysis performed in MATLAB back up the conclusions of the stability analysis. From the study of model it is observed that the prey population decreases as predator capturing effort increases, demonstrating that the predator catching impact is an important and key component to include in the investigation of prey-predator interactions with the Beddington-DeAngelis functional response.
